A lot of discourse online starts to sound like everything else. Part of this is algorithms and part of this is LLMs. But a part of it is just plain old uninteresting and uninspired content. People copy what’s working. When I was down the YouTube creator rabbit hole, the best channels try to innovative formats around 10% of the time (i.e., every 10th video includes some experimentation with format, title, thumbnail, script or content).
One interesting channel is The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills. It’s stupidly simple formula that works so well. Their channel icon is just their store name and number. All the content is various staff members selling people that walkthrough the door various cheeses. There’s no real thumbnail, titles etc., It’s just comforting to watch a cheesemonger that is super passionate about their work make someones day better by helping them get a nice cheese for themselves or their guests.
