I read dan wang’s book earlier this year, where talks about engineering society vs. legal society when comparing china and the US.
Then, watching Dwarkesh’s Robert Caro interview and hearing him talk about will and political genius of Robert Moses and Lyndon B. Johnson, it reminds me of what’s missing.
It seems like people lack courage and will to see things through. It’s important to maintain tempo. The best people keep a long-term goal in their mind but easily forget failures and work without judgement and fear in the short-term. They look for feedback at specific times but don’t overweight any one particular thing. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/b6Zw50f5jJk
To be truly great, you have to be willing to forget and try again. You have to be able to hold and imagine ideas that seem futile but most importantly remain curious.
